THE “RISTORI” DECREE – ADDITIONAL URGENT MEASURES TO PROTECT HEALTH, SUPPORT WORKERS AND BUSINESSES, JUSTICE AND SECURITY, ASSOCIATED WITH THE COVID-19 EPIDEMIOLOGICAL CRISIS

In brief

Italian Decree Law no. 137 of 28.10.2020 (the so-called “Ristori” Decree) was published in Italian Official Gazzette no. 269 of 28.10.2020 and came into force on 29.10.2020. It is due to be converted into law by 27.12.2020. As such, the relevant provisions may be amended and/or supplemented by the conversion law.

Among the measures introduced by the new Decree, those of greatest significance to businesses include provisions concerning grants for operators working in the economic sectors impacted by the new restrictive measures imposed by Italian Prime Ministerial Decree 24.10.2020, an extension of the lease payment tax credit applicable to non-residential properties and company rental and cancellation of the second IMU (municipal tax) instalment for properties used for activities suspended as a result of the health crisis. Labour and social security-related provisions are also included.
