RETREATS ARE AN IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITY FOR EXCHANGE AND CONSOLIDATION OF A FIRM'S VALUES AND CULTURE

Professional services firms are increasingly feeling the need to create situations outside of the workplace, where colleagues can get together to share results, discuss future projects, engage in team buildingactivities, and spend time together to strengthen interpersonal relationships.

For several years now, it has become customary for professional firms to organise retreats, i.e. occasions where professionals get together, usually in a beautiful location, to take stock of a number of issues.

There are many reasons for organising a retreat: expansion of the workforce, organisational changes that require in-depth discussion and awareness for everyone concerned, updating consultants on the firm’s future plans, strengthening relationships between people and so on.

Whatever the underlying reason, the net result will in any case be that consultants find themselves in a different context from their working environment, where it will be easier to talk to each other and – thanks also to the activities that are very often organised during retreats – share the values and culture of the firm.

This, in turn, results in a strengthening of the sense of belonging.

But let’s look in further detail at the ingredients that can contribute to making a retreat a great opportunity for a professional services firm.
